Reducing gas from beans
Question

Nadine from California asks:Since beans are a good source of fiber, are there any kinds that produce less gas than others?

Answer

I am not aware of differences in the amount of gas between different types of beans. Cooking method can make a difference. When using dry beans, changing the water several times during the soaking process helps to decrease the amount of gas. Also commercial products such as Beano can be eaten with beans to decrease the discomfort.
