Dr Irene's TidBits - Vitamins

Multi-vitamin supplement s vs. indiviual vitamin supplements
Question

Millie from KY asks: I am 77 yr. old female, I'm wondering if I take multi-vitamin, do I need to take extra vitamins, like vitamin E, C, etc. I am in very good health, have no problems what so ever.

Answer

You have obviously done something right to be 77 and still going strong with no health problems! I would not fool with mother nature! Whatever you are doing right now is working well. I would not take extra of anything. We have millions of people in the United States living well into their 80’s, 90’s and even 100’s who don’t take vitamins at all. Don’t let advertising convince you that all people need to take vitamin supplements.
